As the World Health Organization warned that the swine flu outbreak may become a worldwide epidemic, religious leaders mobilized to try to keep worshippers safe. Methodists Uphold Ban on Same-Sex Marriages; Presbyterians Reject Openly Gay Clergy

Same-sex couples started getting married in Iowa this week. A state Supreme Court decision last month allowed gay marriage there. But United Methodist clergy won’t be performing any of those ceremonies, at least not officially.
