You’re gonna love this. Almost all Tea Party members declare themselves to be Christians…right? After all, isn’t FreedomWorks about American patriotism and Christianity? If you are a Christian see if they follow the same Jesus you do because if they do…
Well, it seems FreedomWorks Tea Party members called Barney Frank a dirty name and also a man who was beaten for his part in the Civil Rights movement – a nigger! And it seems they also issue death threats or “Christian” fatwas against anybody and everybody that dares to say anything against them. Are you with me so far? (No, this is not the Taliban).
Their latest public spectacle involves the intentional destruction of just such an American citizen who dared to say something against them. He did what American citizens are asked to do. He stated his opinion on a matter close enough to him that he was compelled to speak up, so he called them to say how upset he was about the Tea Party harassment in particular.
It did not seem to matter to the organization which is one of the primary outlets for Tea Party ‘Americanism’ and an outfit with a rousing patriotic name could be wrong because they are fine upstanding Christians who are obedient to Christ’s teaching and love some of their neighbors as they love themselves!
So somewhere in the New Testament, they found the basis for teaching this sub-human a lesson. After all, it was clear by his saying that it was wrong to call Rep John Lewis a nigger and refer to Barney Frank’s sexual orientation in a derogatory way that he was not someone who loved his neighbor. Therefore, why should they be obligated to love him…right? And what is the opposite of love gang? That’s right…hate!
So the FreedomWorks Tea Partiers under Dick Armey went after his job. FreedomWorks sicced told the other Tea Party members on him. They were told to call GEICO and tell them they will not be buying their car insurance for employing this hateful man who has the effrontery to say they were wrong to call John Lewis a nigger and talk about Barney Frank and to ensure that other American patriots will also hate this despicable man, they posted his home phone number and web address in their blog. In fact, I think the president of FreedomWorks personally wrote the blog.
GEICO quickly got the message and they fired him out of concern that since they stopped running GEICO advertisements on the Glenn Beck show that the backlash could be big enough to cost them a lot of money.
Maybe FreedomWorks does have God’s ear. After all, they got a two-fer. They got the ugly American who said they should not call Rep John Lewis a nigger and talk about Barney Frank fired and they could smear some do-do on GEICO for leaving Beck.
All this has caused me to feel an urge to search my Bible. It seems I may have been wrong all along about which side Jesus is on because if these people are the way we should be according to Jesus, I need a new religion today! Do you agree?
