An old dragon is being reborn with new life and energy. It never seems to amaze me that things do repeat. Once again some in the media seek to drive sales at the expense of a person or in an entire people. I am specifically referring to the yellow journalism that fills the airways of Fox News, Lou Dobbs, (who was a huge surprise) and the presses of TIME magazine. Is there gold in spreading intentional lies and innuendo against a people if you can get a majority to buy in…Hell yes! Ask Glen Beck, although unlike O’Reilly who is in it for the money, Beck rather stupidly allowed his real feelings to show through.
Journalism seems to be returning to the kind of total bias-based reporting that played such a large role in helping incite the ugly hatred and murder that characterized the articles that incited white people to murder blacks during incidents like the Wilmington, NC bloodshed. Once again, greed has taken hold of what is supposed to be a noble profession.
Now, emotional incitement replaces factual inquiry. Intentional misrepresentation of the facts replaces responsible reporting of the facts as they relate to the story as it relates to the morality of what the United States of America stands for. But somehow, I don’t think Beck and his ‘fans’ are moved by anything said here. They have made their choice. Have you? Mel Reed
